Hoot With The Spurr

Every once in a while in radio you get to do something really cool. Yesterday was one of those days for me. I got to meet and see an intimate acoustic performance by Darius Rucker of Hootie & The Blowfish fame.

We all love to poke fun at the name Hootie or maybe even grab a chuckle at his expense for the Burger King commercial but Darius Rucker is an amazing singer. You can’t poke fun there. There was no bigger band in the 90’s than Hootie & The Blowfish. ‘Hold My Hand’ and ‘Let Her Cry’ were more than just hits, they were anthems. As we know, he’s now trying to ‘go country’ as they say. I think he’ll be a success in this genre too. How can he not? His songs are good and his voice is still amazing. Check them here if you haven’t yet.
So here’s a man who played to sold out stadiums with his band playing for just 25 people in the same room where I normally go in the mornings to fart during commercial breaks. I’m sitting 2 feet away from a Grammy award wining artist trying to convince an already sold audience to try out his new product. How cool is that? Check out a clip here:
